Travel: I travel far and wide across West Virginia and the broader region to photograph bottles, tokens, scrip, and other artifacts. Though I drive, gas and maintenance isn’t free!

Photography: The very basic setup I use costed several thousand dollars. I aim to continue upgrading my equipment to capture even better photographs.

Time: Thousands of hours have been poured into this project, from travel to photography to research to writing.

Research: Includes costs such as book purchases, archive subscriptions, or other general access to information.

Editing: The software to transform a raw photograph into one that is usable is not cheap. Adobe has a monopoly on the industry and can charge whatever they want—and that price is high.

Website maintenance: General costs related to the upkeep of the website, such as SEO optimization, keeping the domain active, SquareSpace fees, and more.
