Moundsville Bottling Works

1914—1916

Moundsville Bottling Works began in late 1914 (“Worthington", 1914), sometime between September and December, as they appear in the newspapers in December of that year but do not appear in the September 1914 Dun & Bradstreet. The employee identified in this article is John L. Brumage, but it doesn’t state his affiliation with the company. One of the incorporators, J.F. Lee of Worthington, sold his stake in 1915 and returned to Worthington (“Worthington News”, 1915). There are no further mentions of the company past this point in the newspapers, and it disappears from the Dun & Bradstreet listings after 1916.

Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co.

1944—1986

I am unsure as to when this company was founded, though we know its President in 1959 to be Joe Ovies (“Miss America”, 1959), into at least the 1970s (“Zisgray Honored”, 1975).

Purity Ice Cream & Bottling Co.

1917—1922

The Purity Ice Cream & Bottling Company chartered in 1917 with incorporators Lester Brummage, J.D. Burley, Samuel W. Meals, Alex Purdy, and John W. Moorehead (“Ice Cream”, 1917). They were initially located on 10th Street, in “the W.G. McGlumphy building.” Elisha Brummage, presumably related to Lester Brummage, served as president of the company around 1920 (“Personals”, 1920). The 1922 Bureau of Labor biennial report gives the owner that year to be J.T. Burley [sic, unsure as to if J.D. or J.T. is correct] (Daugherty, 1922). This would be their final year in business.
