Welch Milk Company

1927—1954

The Welch Milk Company incorporated in 1927, with a capital stock of $50,000 (WV Sec. State, n.d.). They had a store in Beckley at 175 West Neville Street into the early 1930s that sold all their products and ice cream (The Welch Milk Company, 1932), as well as two stores in Bluefield at 1412 Bland Street and 200 Princeton Avenue (“To Retire,” 1934).

The company was bought out by the Florida firm Foremost Dairies Inc. in 1952 along with several other southern West Virginia milk producers (“Florida Firm,” 1952). They officially dissolved in 1954 (WV Sec. State, n.d.).
